Scanner on XP: I'm trying to run CanoScan FB 620U on WIndows XP, but . . .?

. . . the install disk say the hardware is only for Windows 98. I don't wanna in recent times toss the scanner, but I think the hardware requires the execution software on my install disk. Other than buying a modern scanner, any ideas?

Go to the Canon website and see if within is a windows XP driver for it! If they dont, you are probably SOL!
Try the give new hardware wizard and check the scanners website for patch.
Download and install the XP driver from here and you should be golden:

Don't worry in the region of the install disk. Use the USB port on the computer and plug the scanner into the USB port. Windows XP will automatically recognize the scanner and allow it to function.

You can also jump to the Canon website and download the scanner software.

Even without the software, Windows XP uses the Microsoft Document Imaging and Scanning program.

If you don't enjoy the usb, download the driver and software from the Canon website for the Windows XP drivers.

I ahve exactly the same scanner and di indistinguishable thing. The productive scanner model was made to work next to Win 98 just a few months in the past XP came out, so the compact disc;s were adjectives for WIn 98.
