Question on the Lexmark X1185 Scanner Window-Why is near black common herd?

Whenever I scan using the Lexmark Scanner, on both the preview and the save image, at hand are large black lines that will not move about away. A screenshot is here:

Try scan something. That looks like a blank scan where on earth the scanner lid cushion was picked up. Scan a picture or something and see if the lines are still near. You can crop the lines out for a smaller picture.



Edit: Then there is something between your picture and the scanner/mirror. Usually black results are the result from whiteout, but those lines are too fine. Check for tape moved out by the manufacturer...can you purloin the glass/plastic base out? There must be something stuck to the chalice.
